this week did not go so well for me. first, it was the OP. maybe i shouldn't conclude this so fast since there's still the weekend.
on wednesday, i went to yum cha so dinner after seeing wY's appetising pictures which she took when she went there with cY on monday. i ate just 2 clams and my eyes were swollen plus i had slight breathing difficulties late in the night. argh, it was an allergy. actually, i knew i was allergic to clams way back in primary sch but i decided to try it again. looks like i'll never ever touch clams again. note that the clams i'm allergic to are not the ones u find in cha kway tiao and certainly not abalone. =)
today was my AO Chinese exam paper. honestly, i didn't prepare much for it at all, since i didn't prepare during the promos and still managed an A1. however, i'm not quite sure whether i can get an A1 this time. argh.
the compo questions don't look good at all. i'll list the 4 questions here and comment on them individually.
1. Your best friend betrayed you. Write about the incident and your feelings. i foresee most people to do this question as this looks like the easiest of the 4. however, the trick here is that u must write something that even your best friend can betray you. surely u can't write about your best friend giving your secret away, if not how did he/she become your best friend in the first place? and u must say wad happened after the incident. will you 2 stop being friends altogether? remember he/she is your best friend. best friends don't break off so easily.
2. Knowledge is power. Write about this question and u'll die. unless u love GP so much and score well during GP. then again, those who score well in GP will most likely not do too well for chinese. =P
3. In the present S'pore society, some people think that being good in english is more important than being good in chinese. Do you agree? i did this question and agreed with the statement. oops, i forgot that the teachers marking my essay are chinese teachers. but the statement is true. didn't have much details though to make this an A1 essay. darn. this is not my cup of tea.
4. Your parents have always wanted you to become a doctor. They think that doctors have high social status and enjoy high salaries. That is until one incident which changed their thinking... Continue this essay. this is the most ridiculous compo question i've seen in my whole life. doctors are indeed highly paid and have higher social class, so wad can change this? not just because of a few doctors being negligent in their work can change your parent's mindset. or rather, everybody's mindset.
paper 2 was ok... kind of sad though that i lost 5 marks for not completing on time as i continued my compo during paper 2 as i was struggling to find things to write. nonetheless, i still want my A1! i hate it when the questions are the ones which cause me not to do well. ironically, the summary question was about success and failure which says that one cause of failure is due to external factors. how apt.
